How should I select my medical alert jewelry?

WE RECOMMEND CONSULTING WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN OR OTHER MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL WITH REGARD TO WHAT INFORMATION SHOULD BE INCLUDED ON YOUR MEDICAL ID

What should I include in my engraving?

The personalized information that you provide will be custom engraved on your Charmed Medical Jewelry so that first responders can be better equipped to treat you.

WE RECOMMEND CONSULTING WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN OR OTHER MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL WITH REGARD TO WHAT INFORMATION SHOULD BE INCLUDED ON YOUR MEDICAL ID

Different styles of Medical IDs will allow for different amounts of information to be engraved – please refer to each specific product page for engraving details.

If you would like to would like to include more information than your chosen design allows, it may be best to abbreviate certain information (some common medical abbreviations are listed below)

It is important to engrave the pertinent information that would be helpful in the event that you are unable to communicate for yourself. Items to consider (and discuss with your physician) include:

  • First and Last Name – To allow first responders to quickly identify you
  • In Case of Emergency (ICE) Phone Number – Contact phone number of a primary emergency contact such as a family member, friend, or your health care provider
  • Medical Conditions or Allergies – Any conditions that may cause a medical emergency or be triggered by trauma or common medical treatments.  If you have multiple conditions, we recommend consulting with your physician or medical professional for appropriate abbreviations (a list of common abbreviations is included below).
  • Current Medications – Any medications you are currently taking that may have potentially dangerous interactions, side effects, or risks.
  • Other Considerations – alerts regarding special treatment considerations due to your medical history, such as whether or not you should be administered certain medications or certain interventions

Please review any and all information you provide for engraving.  We are not liable for any inaccuracies in customer submissions.

Please note that we do not engrave DNR or Do Not Resuscitate on medical jewelry as compliance with these requests varies by state and is subject to state law.  Please check your state for DNR requirements and forms.

What materials does CHARMED use?

We make medical alert jewelry in solid gold and sterling silver, both with and without rhodium plating (which provides an extra layer of tarnish and scratch protection to our sterling silver pieces).

Our pieces may also have enameling, or pavé set gemstones such as diamond, ruby, sapphire, and garnet.  Please see our product descriptions for specific details on materials for any pieces of interest.

How do I care for my CHARMED Medical Jewelry?

Due to the precious metals and stones used in crafting our medical alert jewelry, only minimal care is required.

General cleaning requires only a quick soak in warm water with a small amount of dish soap and use of a soft-bristle baby toothbrush (with the exception of enamel) to remove any dirt.

Please do not use any abrasive cleaners or vigorous scrubbing, as this may create scratches or loosen stones. For detailed care instructions please refer to our product care guide.

What if I need to add to or edit my engraving in the future?

As our products are crafted in fine metals, there are methods that can be used to change your engraving altering the gold or silver.

If you have questions about a specific piece, or need to edit your current jewelry, please reach out and we can offer specific advice.

If you believe that you may need to add to your engraving at a later date, we can help to format your engraving so that you have remaining space left to fill in at a later date.

Just email us or reach out on live chat with any questions!

May I order medical alert jewelry for a friend or family member?
